  • The City of Allen’s award winning Allen City Television (ACTV) is not just your average municipal information channel. Sure you can view Allen City Council and Planning and Zoning Committee meetings live from the comfort of your own living room via Time Warner Cable Channel 16 or watch the meetings through video on demand at www.allentv.org. While meeting coverage keeps residents "in the know," ACTV offers a full range of original programming. Programs include special event coverage, Year In Review, special interest features, public service announcements and more.

In addition to some of ACTV’s old favorites like Access Allen and the Tales of Allen history segments, did you know that ACTV has a host of new programs that provide great information in an entertaining format? If you have an interest in cooking, but struggle with what to cook or how to practice safe food preparation – check out "Inspector Skillet". It stars Environmental Services Coordinator Joey Allette who’ll give you tips on proper sanitation and food preparation techniques while local chef Trevor Ball prepares unique and tasty dishes. The recipes and tips are also available online at www.allentv.org.

A new weekly segment called "The Dilly-O" features host Marcie Moon to provide the "411" on what’s going on around town. You will also want to keep an eye out for "My City, My Pride" that showcases the people behind the scenes providing the services and programs at the City of Allen.

The diverse and entertaining programming provided by ACTV has garnered the station with 90 state and national awards since 2000. This year, ACTV won First Place for "Overall Excellence in Government Programming" from both the Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (TATOA) and the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA). ACTV also proudly displays two EMMY Awards through the Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

In 2006, ACTV was only the 2nd municipality in Texas to win a Lone Star EMMY for the service program "In Memory of…" This year, ACTV was awarded the Lone Star EMMY for the category of Arts/Entertainment Program/Special for Mark Kaufmann’s role as Executive Producer on "The Adventures of …David Chicken" which was aired on ACTV and contains the music video "Book A Trip" which was filmed in the Allen Public Library and directed by Kaufmann.
