An Allen holiday tradition continues as we celebrate the 23rd year of the St. Jude Craft Fair on November 7 and 8, 2008.
The St. Jude Craft Fair tradition began in 1985, initiated by the St. Jude Women’s Club. It has grown from 20 vendors to over 90 vendors, and has become Allen’s most anticipated craft fair.
Guests will enjoy shopping for hand crafted one-of-a-kind items such as baby clothes, quilts, floral wreaths and centerpieces, candles, jewelry and holiday décor. In addition, the St. Jude craft kitchen is open to "re-fuel" hungry shoppers. Renowned for its’ savory baked potato lunches, shoppers will also find a variety of homemade soups, bread and desserts.
The Women’s Club attributes the craft fair’s success over the years to the great volunteers of St. Jude. Hundreds of parishioners are involved in the process, from baking to serving to advertising. In the past 23 years, proceeds from the St. Jude Craft Fair have gone toward a variety of projects, some of which include remodeling the church kitchen, building the courtyard fountain and funding the purchase of a well in Mexico.
Kick-off your holiday shopping at the St. Jude Craft Fair, Friday, November 7, hours will be 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, November 8 the hours will be 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be a raffle on Saturday afternoon—winners need not be present to win. St. Jude Catholic Church is located at 1515 North Greenville Ave., between Exchange Parkway and Stacy Road on Highway 5. Come start your holiday with the tradition! |
