  • "The gift to read is the gift of a lifetime" is the philosophy behind the Reading Ranch Preschool and Tutorial Center, founded and directed by Kim Southwell, Ph.D. Candidate and Language Therapist. Kim has been an active early childhood teacher, professor and language therapist who began tutoring struggling readers in her Allen home. Her reading classes, expertise in literacy, bubbly personality and southern spunk were so popular that she created a preschool and tutorial center that focuses on early literacy. The tutorial center offers afterschool and Saturday morning reading intervention and dyslexia programs for kindergarten thru 6th grade.

Established in 2006, the Reading Ranch Preschool and Tutorial Center is an independent, private academic school located inside Life Fellowship Church in Allen. The Reading Ranch offers a full-day (8:30am-2:30pm) preschool program for children 18 months to 6 years old. Another service is the early drop and stay and play programs (7am-6pm) where families enjoy Christmas programs, musicals and plays performed by the children as well as museum-styled kid art shows, all held on stage for lasting memories.

Other popular programs include afterschool and Saturday morning tutorial classes as well as diagnostic testing including reading assessments and dyslexia screening.

The Reading Ranch team is specially trained in early childhood education and literacy and provides a solid literacy foundation for young readers by providing small sized classes with the all time favorite Reading Lab!
