  • Back-to-school means cleaning out the kids’ closets and making room for all the new clothes! So, what does one do with all those out-grown, barely worn items from last year? Why not make some extra cash and give a tax-deductible donation at the same time. Considered selling those gently used clothes on consignment with the Lil’ Lambs Consignment Sale, an outreach ministry of the First Presbyterian Church of Allen.

Lil’ Lambs is a biannual, seasonal consignment sale of infant and children’s clothing and accessories, including junior sizes and big boys, maternity clothing and accessories, toys, nursery items and nursery and children’s furniture. Profits are shared by the sellers and First Presbyterian Church of Allen with 100% of the church portion donated to local ministries benefiting women and children. Some of the local agencies that have benefited include Allen Community Outreach, Samaritan Inn, Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center and Children and Community Health Center of McKinney. Seller’s proceeds vary from 60%-70% of gross sales, dependant upon seller’s assistance with the sale. Since spring 2002, Lil’ Lambs has raised over $67,000 for numerous area ministries.

On-site registration to be a seller is Friday, September 12 and Saturday September 13, from 9- 11 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 605 S. Greenville Ave., Allen. On-site registration fees are $7 per seller number. If you can’t register in person, registration forms will be available online or at the church for a fee of $10 per seller number. Late registrations must be postmarked or received in person by September 30. Seller registration is limited to 120 seller numbers and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

In cooperation with Allen Community Outreach, Lil’ Lambs also provides shopping vouchers for local families in need. These vouchers are given to families selected by ACO and allow them to receive the first shopping privileges at the Lil’ Lambs sale. The Voucher program is funded by donations from individuals, families, businesses, organizations and churches.

The Lil’ Lambs Non-Profit Children’s Consignment Sale will be October 9-11. Public shopping times are Thursday, October 9, 5 p.m.-8 p.m.; Friday, October 11, 9-noon; and Saturday, October 11, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Most items will be half price on Saturday.

The success of the sale is dependent on volunteers! Volunteer shifts are offered to fit any schedule, and volunteers enjoy early shopping privileges. You do not have to register as a seller to volunteer. For more information or to donate to the Voucher Program, visit www.lil-lambs.net or call the church office at 972-727-2551.
