    Plan a trip to a pump station, find out about the city election process, or use the tool trailer for a park beautification project – these are just a few of the free resources and educational programs available through the City of Allen and related organizations. A complete resource book will be available at the upcoming Educator’s Expo on September 25 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Ron Gentry Training Center, Central Fire Station, 310 Century Parkway.  
     
    The Educator’s Expo is an annual event hosted by City staff to provide information about all the programs, projects and resources available to anyone that plans educational activities. The Expo also provides the ability to meet and visit with program representatives.  
     
    Some of the programs offered include:

  • Bunker Gear/Apparatus Display (includes child-size bunker gear)  
  • Mobile Classroom  
  • Citizen’s Fire Academy and Explorer Post 1953

  • Tool Trailer Program  
  • Urban Forestry Field Trips  
  • Volunteer Opportunities for Scouting groups

The 2008 Education and Outreach Guide features additional programs and resources and will be posted online following the Educator’s Expo. Copies of the 2008 guide, resource give-aways, snacks and door prizes will be available at the Expo.  
     
    The Educator’s Expo is a project sponsored by Keep Allen Beautiful and the City of Allen. The Expo is free of charge; however, attendees are asked to RSVP so that adequate guides and resource information will be available.
